Show Notes

Christ is risen! Christ is risen, indeed! The secular world moves on from Easter very quickly. The candy goes on sale, we put away the decorations, and stores set up displays for the next big holiday. But in the Christian church, Easter is so important that we continue to celebrate it for six additional Sundays – a season we call Eastertide.

During Eastertide, some of our attention focuses on the book of Acts, as we celebrate the resurrection by remembering how it was first proclaimed by the apostles. This Sunday, we will take a look at Peter’s Pentecost Sermon from Acts 2. This was the first public proclamation of the resurrection, coming after the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the apostles. In Peter’s message, we learn that God has the final word, even over death, and that God is actively fulfilling God’s promises from the Old Testament in the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus of Nazareth. This Sunday, we will dig into the first part of Peter’s sermon, and explore what it means for us today. See you Sunday morning, in person or online.

First Christian Church of Lawrenceville is located in Lawrenceville, Georgia in Gwinnett County. Find out more by going to our website at https://lawrencevillechristianchurch.org/
