You may remember the story of Zacchaeus from Vacation Bible Story – the short tax collector who climbed a tree to see Jesus passing, and as a result hosted Jesus at his home. There’s even a song we used to sing: “Zacchaeus was a wee little man…”
But as we see so often in scripture, there’s more to the story of Zacchaeus. A despised tax collector, rejected by his community, received God’s salvation and responded with joy and repentance. This story is a counterpoint to Jesus’s earlier declaration that it’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. As we dig into this story on Sunday, we will take a look at some challenging questions about how we see and judge other people, and how God’s grace works in surprising ways. See you Sunday morning, in person or online.
